Eat while you tweet

We had our first lunchtime session today and it went pretty well. A good number of contributors and some useful dicussions. We were talking about Twitter in general and it proved to be a great subject. As ever, if you have any suggestions for future clinics please let us know.

You can read the transcript here. See you next week.

New time, same place

We're changing our hours to suit you.

For details of what we're up to, see Craig's post over at Contently Managed.

W'ere open to suggestions for our new daytime slot, the current thinking is to stick with Wednesdays but switch to lunchtime. If you follow the #smclinic and have a suggestion then we'd love to hear from you. You can comment here if you like, or on LinkedIn or with the hashtag. We're listening.

We have a logo!

Yes. As it says up there in the title, we now have our very own logo. You can see it right up there at the top of the page.

It was designed by the very talented Scott Burns who did a superb job of interpreting my woolly brief. The whole process was entirely painless and I can't reccomend his services highy enough. You can find out more about him here: http://www.whatistsukuru.co.uk/

So now #smclinic is a brand! Stay tuned for further developments, soon you may even be able to attend an #smclinic in the real world...

Week off

There's no clinic this week. We'd be up against #BeGoodBeSocial which is a movement that we both support. Keep up with that instead and next week normal service will be resumed.

Customer service

A quieter #smclinic that usual this week where we were up against the Champions League again. Still generated a lot of useful chat and the transcript makes interesting reading.

We covered the mysterious absence of Ray Ban, #gannetgate, customer service scripts and my age! All in the name of social media.

Blogging tips

Another successful clinic tonight. With the title of "blogging tips" it was always going to be a bit different from previous efforts which focussed on social networking.

The result was very good with some great questions and good advice, particularly from Craig McGill who's blog you really should check out if you want to read great writing and plenty of rows being caused.

Measuring success

Clinic no. 3 has now been and gone and we saw a few new faces tonight which is great. The subject was "measuring success" which is not an easy one. The content of the transcript makes superb reading for anyone looking for insights into what the options are and what the "experts" think of many of the services currently on offer.

Another successful clinic

The second #smclinic turned out to be just as useful as the first. A number of the contributors from week one returned along with a handful of new faces which made for another fascinating discussion.

Once again there were a number of useful insights shared by all parties and I know i learned a few things myself, so everybody wins.

We'll be back at the clinic next Wednesday 6th October at 8pm (BST). If you know of anyone who's new to Twitter who may benefit please pass on the details and we'll make them welcome.

What to say

The #smclinic returns tonight at 8pm (BST). The topic is loosely "What to say" but we're happy to cover any questions you may have on social media.

I'll be tweeting tonight at @smclinicBarry due to the sheer volume of tweets I put out between 8 and 9 last week. Please follow me on that account if you want to DM me. Craig will be @content_ly so don't be put off when you don't see our usual monickers there.

See you tonight!

It all starts here

#smclinic is a Twitter based forum aimed at anyone who has an interest in social media as a business tool but who still have a few questions. It's run by Barry Dewar and Craig McGill, both social media consultants based in Scotland.

The first clinic was held last night (22 September 2010) and was a great success. We had 42 users involved and got through 206 tweets. That's a lot to cover in an hour and my fingers hurt by the end but it was hugely enjoyable. You can read the transcript from the clinic here, coustesy of whatthehashtag.com.

Feedback has been positive so we will definately be making it a regular event. The next #smclinic will be on Wednesday 29 September at 8pm (BST)

There's also a Twitter list of contributors which should make it easy to catch up with the new faces you come across at the clinics. If you have taken part but aren't on the list, please let me know.
